The 2013 Power Athlete Team Series came to an epic close this weekend in Monrovia, Ca at the amazing Team CrossFit Academy facility.  Teams from all over Southern California and beyond came out to represent their respective gyms and hopefully take home the prize of $2000 and Hi-Temp bumper plates.

Going into the final event were the Pain Junkies (Lindsay McCormick, Amy Leung, Lawrence Fu, Aaron Glean-Sealey) in third place.  What’s important to note is that they were the first 2 men/2 women team in Power Athlete Team Series to make it to the prowler event.  The Pain Junkies deadlifter, Aaron Glean-Sealey, pulled a ridiculous 520lbs at a bodyweight of 157lbs boosting the team to become the second strongest CFFB total all day.

CrossFit SoCal and EVCF joined the Pain Junkies in what would be one of the most exciting finishes we’ve seen.  These two teams stayed neck and neck for the better part of the grueling pyramid style prowler shuttle until the heavy weight started to make boys into men.  At it’s heaviest, the loaded prowler weighed more than 300lbs – which for a 40yd shuttle is certain to humble even the most powerful of power athletes.

EVCF came all the way from Chandler, Az to do work and do work they did.  This impressive lineup consisting of Sage Huseas, Danny Lazzan, Tennil Reed, and Samuel Leehe not only took first in the CFFB Total, first in the MetCons, and first Overall, but were able to perform when it really mattered.  Solidifying their title, EVCF dominated the winner-take-all last event with the grit and drive that you would expect from such amazing Power Athletes.

A special thank you goes out to the volunteers of Team CrossFit Academy and Eric LeClair for hosting the event!  Of course none of it is possible without our headlining sponsors: Kill Cliff, Well Food Co, Bully Bling, Emotional Game, and Life As Rx.

Congratulations to all of the athletes who participated in the Power Athlete Team Series this year.  These events are all about getting together in the spirit of strength and athleticism to see what we’re capable of accomplishing.  A sincere thank you to all of the gyms, volunteers, and competitors who put forth the effort to make PATS a huge success and more importantly, a great time.

See you in 2014.
