Technology is distrac…SQUIRREL!

When Nir Eyal set out to write the book “Hooked”, he wasn’t referencing fishing, prostitution, or the biography of a fictional captain. We are all susceptible to the clutches of technology in the age of the internet. Why? Because there is an entire market designed to tap into our most primitive evolutionary processes and get you feeling the “rewards” of app interaction. Eyal is a practical dude who says don’t throw the technology out with the bathwater. When properly managed, our use of smart phones can do tremendous good. The question becomes…how best to manage it.

How many times do you find yourself in the middle of a work project and the next thing you know, you are completely distracted from the task at hand. Shame on you, slacker. Whether it’s a phone notification or co-worker, there are productivity terrorists at every corner. It may even come in the form of this podcast. This week, find out how these distractions are really affecting your success and exactly how to sift through the beneficial smart phone interaction and the absolute life-sucking social media bullshit. Stand up to chatty Karen at work and finally finish those TPS reports. Listen NOW!
