On the Pitch

Rugby legend, Owen Franks [@Owen.Franks] joins us from across the pond for this week’s killer episode of PA Radio. If you are a rugby fan or a person with a pulse, you’ll want to tune into this discussion. Living a childhood steeped in the rugby culture, Franks explains how it’s 9/10 kids dreams to grow up and play for the All Blacks. Few can say they’ve achieved such success, though, and Owen is one of the few. Now with the Northampton Saints, he’s still hard charging in his professional athlete career.

Pro rugby player, Owen Franks joins The Crew to discuss the nuances of training one of the most demanding sports of all time. John, Luke, and Tex marvel at the athleticism and power of the players while Franks helps shed some light on how this culture differs from that of our familiar football. Hear about how the leagues are organized, how the positions are structured, and what kind of sacrifices are required to play every 5-7 days. A family man first, Franks’ deep love for rugby started with playing with his friends and later training more seriously with his father and brother. Hear how his passion evolved into 13 year career of numerous injuries and great memories that he says are just “all part of the fun”. Listen NOW!
