In this episode the Crew dials the voicemail to answer a question from a loyal Power Athlete Radio listener:

Hey guys, I recently bought a reverse hyper for my garage gym, and I wanted to get your thoughts on what you guys think of it, how you implemented in your programs, or how you recommended using it. John knows Louie Simmons and he recommends using it before and after squat and deadlift sessions.

A lot of people act like it’s a cure-all for any kind of back problem you’ll ever have so I know that depends on the issue and everything, but just wanted to get your thoughts on it. How do you guys recommend it or do you recommend it at all black background? I’m thirty-eight years old. I’m just trying to be a fit dad. I got a double bodyweight squat 2 and 1/2 x bodyweight deadlift, bodyweight press, do a little snatch and jerk, and then try to keep it met-cony with Johnnie WOD stuff. So anyway, just looking to try and implement it and strengthen my back prevent injuries and stuff like that. Thanks, keep it up.

Injury Makes the Comeback Sweeter

The Reverse Hyper, not the magic panacea to fix all back injuries, but it is an incredible training tool when executed and programmed properly. Whether you’ve had the chance to take this piece of equipment for a ride or have no clue what it is or how to use it, the Power Athlete Crew lays out the purpose and prudence of Louise Simmons’ 1970’s invention.

A new home gym owner invested in a new Reverse Hyper and called John, Luke, and Tex for programming advice. Not only did he learn which squat and back days to pair it with, he also learned every which way to execute these improperly and how to cue himself into proper position to milk his posterior chain for all its worth. Don’t have or will never get a Reverse Hyper? The Crew also covers movement substitutions to supplement into your programming!
