Marcus Filly explains why sometimes experience beats the lab when it comes to building real athletes.
Before Marcus Filly became the face of Functional Bodybuilding, he was a pre-med student chasing a white coat. Instead, he found his calling in the trenches; training, competing, and bleeding under the barbell.
He sits down with me to unpack how his evolution from CrossFit Games competitor to coach and creator reshaped the way the fitness world thinks about training for both form and function. We go deep on the war between evidence-based science and lived experience, and why the body doesn’t always follow the spreadsheet.
We break down the rise of hyrox and hybrid athletes, and what it says about where human performance is heading, a blend of physique, grit, and metabolic horsepower.
If you’ve ever wondered how to build a body that not only looks the part but performs for a lifetime, this is the conversation you don’t want to miss.
