We love the prowler. We love everything about what it does for training your body, your mind, and your spirit. In fact, every member of Power Athlete staff gets tingly when we see one. We would consider it a necessary piece of training equipment for any Power Athlete. Just as necessary as pants.

Prowler Flu

I love the prowler! No gym that trains atheletes should be w/out one. My favorite part is when new atheletes do a 150ft sled push w/ half the Wright of regulars and then find out it was the warm up.. More than a few need 15min afterwards to compose themselves..

Has anyone had any issues with prowlers tearing up the pavement/street? I would consider investing in one, but am concerned with destroying the streets in my neighborhood. That simply won’t work.

    Made one this week actually

Masen – I’ve never seen a well made prowler damage streets. They “glide” over the surface.
Only sub I’ve found for a prowler is a treadmill push. If I have to work out at the office gym, I push with the treadmill off. It’s obviously a poor substitution, but it’s a lot harder than you might think.

    Hey Masen
Old low profile carpet off cuts linked together with cloth tape works a treat. Didn’t think it would work but was pleasantly surprised with the results.

I’m deployed right now…and we have these things called “cruise boxes” We store various items in them for the movement……there pretty light…but we throw about 2-4 45lb plates in there and push them down any hard-ball surface. Nothing like the real thing though!

Just got a Rogue “Dog Sled.” Pretty new to the prowler, so it’s kicking my ass so far. How are folks working it in with the Collegiate template? Just replacing the DWOD’s here and there?

I was going to say something misogynistic regarding chicks, welding, sandwich-making, and kitchens, but since it’s Cali, I shall refrain.

  11. Cali on June 10, 2013 at 11:28 am

    @Ingo B- You chose…wisely.

@Cali but seriously how about that sandwich..

Use it during both warm ups & as a finisher.

Oh Prowler.. Ive heard placing heavy objects on towels and pushing them across smooth surfaces, i.e. smooth concreted floors as well as basketball gym floors is a suitable all be it, lighter substitute

  15. Cali on June 10, 2013 at 4:39 pm

@clark martin – I don’t know…between going to Target and doing nothing the rest of the day, I just don’t think I’ll have time.

  16. Dave S on June 11, 2013 at 4:17 pm

@ Benny, I have seen someone at a Globo gym use a couple of plates wrapped in a towel and push them on the floor. It was a good substitute, but it does present some potential form issues. It is very difficult to push through the core properly and the back tends to round because the person was pushing downwards on an angle and less parallel. Still a good sub.

Has anyone used the Sorinex Root Hog. Its about 100.00 more than the E series or Rogue Butcher. Worth it?

Not exactly a prowler, but my sled that I built for pushing. Works like a champ.
