Pass On the Passion

This episode is as epic as it’s guest. Derek Woodske [@DerekWoodske] is a man and athlete steeped in deep thought. He meditates on the politics surrounding the Middle East while lamenting the ignorance of most critics. Woodske spends much of his time traveling to and living in Saudi Arabi which provides him a uniquely global perspective. This Canada born American resident is also a passionate disciple of the sport of throwing. His fascination with world affairs is only matched by his love for classic strength and conditioning. One of the most meaty conversations to date.

Derek Woodske believes that engaging with people beyond the whirlwind of social media does two things. It holds both the mentor and the mentee accountable for the basis of their training methods (or lackthereof). It also provides a forum to connect with a community and an experience that you couldn’t otherwise create online. We couldn’t agree more. This is why we were pleased to have Woodske speak at least year’s symposium. When people come together for a common goal, history is made. As Woodske puts it…Your legacy is not your single moment in time. It’s not a champion’s fleeting seconds on a podium. Your legacy is taking what you learned from your success and imparting it on others.

EMPOWER YOUR PERFORMANCE.

This is a friendly reminder that if you have not been preparing for Wade’s Day…Get training. Wade’s WOD is 5 rounds for time of 11 Single arm Power Snatches, 12 Single arm DB Thrusters, and 11 Weighted Pullups. The rep numbers signify the date that Wade lost his fight to cancer on November 12th 2011. You don’t have to do the workout to donate, but I recommend finding a way to think about Wade on that special day.
