Andrew K asks:
What’s going on P.A.R crew?

In light of the recently awesome Beginner’s Guide to CFFB, I was hoping to get some input/airtime on each of your favorite accessory movements as well as set/rep ranges. Do you take the Jim Wendler approach to accessory lifts i.e. hit your main movements like a powerlifter and then train your accessory movements like a body builder or do you crush some more heavy shit for accessory work?

Disclaimer: I am aware that accessory work should be just that, accessory, and should not take away from the DWOD/SWOD. In terms of programming, would you pick one weak spot each day and program it accordingly (if I need more tricep work – throw in some dips after a Monday/Thursday when we traditionally press) or would you suggest making Saturday a light conditioning/weak spot day?

Thanks for the continuing inspiration,

Andrew K.

Really disappointing that John, typically a strong purveyor of science, is giving the autism / vaccination bullshit any airtime.

There’s a ton of science out there, particularly recently, proving being a reasonable doubt that there is zero connection between vaccination and autism.

    There’s a loooot on this:
http://opinionator.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/10/10/the-dangers-of-pseudoscience/ –> why giving this crap airtime is dangerous.
    http://mag.newsweek.com/2013/10/11/whooping-cough-a-comeback-story-nobody-loves.html
    http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/vaccines/CC00014
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/02/03/health/research/03lancet.html – the retraction of the actual study used to underly all the autism/vaccination claims.

Look – every parent would do anything to protect their child, but giving airtime to pseudo science is bad for kids and everyone else.

While John did get his kids mostly vaccinated and did the right thing (and is right to question helicopter-parenting and over-protection of kids and stuffing them full of unnecessary drugs and chemicals ), others may hear a voice of authority like John and decide not to get their kids vaccinated at all – that’s the concern.

I also think it’s dangerous to associate the science and evidence based approach of Power Athlete HQ to fitness and health with a kooky movement that is based in zero science and has Jenny McCarthy as it’s self-appointed leader.

I’m a PhD of Traditional Chinese Medicine and a parent and I don’t believe in vaccinations. To a person like myself, who has a high understanding of the scientific method, and a high understanding of philosophy, and a mediocre understanding of CrossFit Football, I take offense to much of what you’ve posted. To that, I give no more airtime.

    Great work again, guys.

Thanks for taking my comment! Although I have steered away from CFFB I still check the site religiously for the info.

While Jesse was discussing the dangers of putting assistance work at the end of the workout, I was thinking about my own training and how I always put core work at the end and sometimes skip it. And then he mentioned core!

This is probably why deadbugs are in the PA warmup.
