Author / John

“Just sleep right through the apocalypse.”

This week we have the pleasure of speaking with Dr. Kirk Parsley.  A native Texan, Dr. Parsley began his fascination of sleep studies after having spent six years as a Navy SEAL and another five as the teams clinician.  Hear why Dr. Parsley realized that despite his efforts instituting new diagnosis and treatment protocols, he felt his practices would be more embraced outside the current military bureaucracy.

In this episode we get to pick Doc’s brain about the correlation between metabolic syndrome and sleep, whether or not sleep pod’s are bogus, and if you really can make up for those long lost sleep years of shift work, raising kids, or late night raging on Red Bull-Vodka.

You will not want to miss Dr. Parsley’s top three tips on how to positively alter existing sleep habits and in no way do they include taking Ambien.  Find out what “disassociation” is and why it is NOT the same thing is natural sleep.

If you’re listening to this now it means you’re awake and that’s good reason to stay vertical and take in the knowledge bombs here on Episode 95 of Power Athlete Radio.

I was so psyched when you announced this podcast. Doc Parsley has such a unique background, and I’ve listened to every interview he’s done.

Also, super nice guy. I sent him an email last year (former Aussie SOF, had some issues with being burnt out) and he got back to me with some recommendations later that same day. F’ing legend.

Dr. Parsley was also on the Barbell Shrugged podcast a few months back. He gets REAL technical in that one, so for you all who geek out on that kind of stuff, it’s worth a listen.
