Another Power Athlete Team Series down and they just keep getting better. Nobody loves owner and official Commissioner of Fun, Freddy Camacho, as much as the staff of Power Athlete HQ so we all made the trip up to witness the sold-out event at his notorious facility- CrossFit One World.

There is no question about the talent in NorCal, particularly when notable powerhouses like Jesse Burdick and Katie Hogan show up.  These athletes and many more demonstrated power and athleticism in their chosen lift to compete for the prize of $2000 and coveted custom Hi-Temp bumper plates.  The top three teams to move on to the final event were Team Salad in 3rd place, Caffeine and Kilos in 2nd, and 6ft Under in 1st.  Interestingly enough, Team Salad consisting of the aforementioned celebrities in strength, only slightly edged out the 4th place finishing team by 0.32 points to compete in the prowler shuttle.  Once there, Team Salad suffered a crushing technicality which costed them the win.

Crowd arousal was at an all time high when the shuttle frontrunners, Caffeine and Kilos, dismounted one of the pushing pipes while taking off a plate on one of legs of this gritty ladder.  This gave Team Salad just enough time to break ahead but with the excitement of the new lead, a cone was struck in the turn around phase of the push and the athlete was forced to travel around the cone a second time.  Caffeine and Kilos saw a window and went full throttle for a from-behind-win in the final seconds of the event.

Congratulations to all of the athletes who PR’d in their chosen lifts.  It was an exciting day all around and we’d like to tip our hat to the following beasts for moving some serious weight: Jeremy Lemon bench pressing 360lbs at a bodyweight of 167.2, Jesse Burdick for the biggest press of the day- 445lbs, and Ian Droze who squat 440lbs at a bodyweight of 173.8.  The top female pound for pound deadlifters were Jo Ann Aita with 330lbs, Melissa Corral with 340lbs and Kristin Newman with 410lbs.

Thanks to all of the athletes who competed and especially to the volunteers from CrossFit One World who made the event a huge success.  If you would like to compete in the FINAL Power Athlete Team Series, please click here.

PATS was a phenomenal event – hands down, one of the best I’ve ever DJ’ed (and I’ve DJ’ed a lot). The crowd energy was unreal. As someone who feeds off of that when I spin, it was near overload from 3-2-1 GO.

Things ran very smoothly, and Cali/Luke managed the huge crowd very well. Best part was when Cali called out a dude for stopping mid-metcon to swig off his water bottle. Their team still placed in the final 3. Not sure which part of the story is more badass.

Also, you can indeed PR to One Direction. Happened on Saturday. Science.

    And the eye candy….whoa nelly.

The event was awesome, thanks Ingo B for keeping the energy up. Lotsa PRs, lotsa sweat, lotsa effort.

    I wonder what’s in store for 2014??!!?
