54 Min Listen

In this episode the Crew dials the voicemail to answer a question from a loyal Power Athlete Radio listener:

I’m calling in regards to weight room culture and tips at the high school level. I currently am an athletic director Public School in the Midwest and the great state of Michigan and the one thing that seems to be a disconnect is the old ball coach and imitation of a solid weight lifting program. I’d love to hear you guys thoughts on that and if there’s any way that this has been hit on second topic, I’d love to hear your thoughts on where does Edge of Tomorrow rate in regards to Tom Cruise’s greatest films. Have a good one.

Who in the hell gave you that power? You’re just a high school football coach…

High School athletic politics is a Risky Business. When the Athletic Director and Ball Coach have a Fallout from going Rouge in the weight room, reining the Top Gun in can feel like an impossible: mission. Using wins as Collateral for poor training will only work for so long before injuries, numbers culture, and send the program into Oblivion.

John and Tex empower Outsiders to make All the Right Moves to navigate the cliques of High School athletics and ensure a knowledgeable coach in the weight room is a Firm position in all programs. Whether you’re an athlete, parent or coach listen in to avoid the inevitable Days of Thunder battling egos fighting for what is believed to be best for athletes. Here’s hoping we Never Go Back to the “it worked for Bear Bryant…” Coach who still has their Eyes Wide Shut.

Plus we discuss Tom Cruise for way too much time. If you can find a way to work Tropic Thunder into this or have a TC hot take, leave it in the comments 🙃
