The Edge of Performance
So you think you’ve got a decent idea of how to bring your athletes or even yourself to the very edge of your performance capacity? Maybe you’ve got some of the physical components down but I assure you that after listening to this episode, you’ll be reevaluating how you communicate, how you evaluate, and how you measure success. Every nuanced interaction with your athletes can have an incredible impact on their ability to be fierce competitors whose identity is not wrapped up in the sport itself. This is the wish we have for all of our athletes…and really anyone whose job it is to be challenged at the highest levels. To know that sport is merely an expression of the person’s character trait that desires to be tested. Two time Olympic medalist, National and World Champion, Nicole Davis [@nicolemdavis6] has worked alongside coach Pete Carroll of the Seahawks and renowned psychologist Dr. Michael Gervais to develop techniques to battle the old school approach to performance training [@CompeteToCreate]. This podcast is so fucking good, I pinch myself that people on like this.
After retiring from a massively successful career in volleyball, Nicole reflected on her own experience as an athlete, a competitor, and person craving development. She dove head first in the growth mindset realm and quickly became a student of the techniques used by Dr. Michael Gervais and Coach Pete Carroll. Now she’s educating businesses, coaches, and the like through Compete To Create [@CompeteToCreate], a high performance psychology training system founded by Gervais and Carroll. Study up for this week’s guest by checking out her TED Talk.
EMPOWER YOUR PERFORMANCE.
