Congratulations to the winners of the Atlanta Power Athlete Team Series competition, Team 2Pood. The team boasted heavy hitters Nate Schrader, Kelsey Nagel, Derrick Robinson, and Rory Hanlin. Team CrossFit Gwinett also had an impressive performance both in the Team CFFB Total and the metcon portions of the event finishing with the most Wilks points and second most metcon points. The combined score put them in first place going into the final prowler race. Foreshadowing their athletic prowess, the team who accumulated the most metcon points, Team 2Pood, were able to pull ahead of the other athletes in a grueling head to head prowler ladder. In this case, it seemed their ability to display superior work capacity and manage some serious psychological discomfort gave them the necessary edge.
Some standouts in strength were Caleb Williams who back squatted a beautiful 535lbs and Leechelle Lee who blew the girls away by putting up 235lbs on bench. Camdon Clayton from Team Quad Delta Trap pulled the heaviest deadlift of 650lbs which afforded the most Wilks points making him the strongest deadlifter for his bodyweight and the strongest deadlifter overall.
A special thank you goes out to the volunteers and staff at CrossFit North Atlanta. The event attracted some amazing Power Athletes and has certainly set the bar high for the remaining events in the Power Athlete Team Series. Congratulations to all those who competed, PR'd, and showed that just as Iron Sharpens Iron, so does one athlete sharpen another. Keep training and more importantly, know what you're training for.
