Sexy Doesn’t Mean Strong
Loren Landow joins us this week on the show. Yes, it’s true that he has coached over 70 NFL All-Pro’s and at least 20 first round draft picks. However, Landow has yet to rest on his laurels as he continues to educate through his Board roles at Metro State, Setenta College, and Elite Sports University. Landow is responsible for the return to performance program at Steadman Hawkins Clinic in Denver, getting athletes back on two feet after suffering devastating lower extremity injuries. But here’s why we like the guy – his coaching style and ethos is centered around mastering the basics, not bullshit or overly sexy gimmicks. He also believes building a rapport with athletes starts with a candid conversation. His expertise comes at the cost of dedication and openness to be coached.
This episode is dense with coaching takeaways, drills, and new ways of looking at programming for weekend warriors through elite performers. For a guy with his level of success, you’d imagine a comparable sized ego. But that is certainly not the case. As Landow says, experience is just the byproduct of failing a lot and being able to say “I don’t know”. He is now focusing efforts on Landow Performance, his training facility in CO. This is where his knowledge and passion intersect make unbeatable athletes.
EMPOWER YOUR PERFORMANCE.
You can find Loren on all social media – again those handles are @LorenLandow @LandowPerformance. After all of his international travels, Loren will be in Las Vegas for National conference of the NSCA July 12-15. The link to that will be in our show notes.
If this tune is giving you PTSD, it’s likely because you attended last year’s Power Athlete Symposium. Well guess what, folks – it’s BACK! Mark your calendars for December 8-10 and tell your sig-o you’ve got to see a guy about a horse in Austin, Tx. If you’re a newb here is what you can expect: amazing guest speakers, tons of practical/hands on diagnostics, this song on repeat, and some mild but legal hazing.
