There is nothing traditional about Jim Laird.
This week we welcome the owner of GYM Laird Strength and Conditioning and once roommate of Jim Wendler. The former Powerlifter turned industry leader has some unconventional opinions about, well just about everything.
After some discussion on Jim’s background, we get down and dirty with his fascinations with optimal posture, high vs. low threshold environments, and the power of meditation. Learn how his life took some interesting turns and conscious reprioritizing after struggling with a major health setback. His brutally honest take on the experience and it’s possible link to a lifestyle of poor eating, excessive training, and steroid use is sobering to say the least.
Next, we chat about his typical client. Working with nearly 90% females, Jim has developed a unique finesse to converting your average cardio fiend or triathlete into a competitive Powerlifter. How does he do it? The secrets lie just moments away.
Jim Laird is not your average coach. Our candid conversation revealed his unique approach to athlete assessments, vision for the future of our industry, and insight to what really matters in training and in life.
EMPOWER YOUR PERFORMANCE.
If you want to learn more about Jim and his upcoming seminars, head to his website GYMLaird.com. Stay tuned to hear more about the October meeting of the minds aka “The Cube Summit” in Atlanta, GA.

Join us next week when our guest will be Rob “Maximus” MacDonald. The former MMA champ now helps run the online training resource gymjones.com. Find out why he thinks having a “Dad Bod” is indicative of a culture that is simply ok with settling.
And because it’s topical, I leave you with this quote from General George S. Patton
“It’s the unconquerable soul of man, not the nature of the weapon he uses, that insures victory.”

Good ole’ Ulcerative Colitis… As a teenager in 2002, I unsuccessfully tried to avoid the surgeries with all kinds of meds and clear liquid diets but never found something that worked for me. I will ping Jim for some additional info.
My inner @ingob can’t help myself:
Stress is an asshole.
PAHQ make my life less shitty.
Well played you.
90% of his clients are female? How does one become a strength and conditioning coach? Color me intrigued.
I heard he used to be a DJ…you guys have so much in common.
The colouring-in books idea isn’t so crazy. My mum is a psychiatrist and gives them to her patients all the time, there’s a bunch of people putting out colouring books for mindfulness (though admittedly the dinosaur ones are way cooler). Kind of an active meditation.
