It’s that time of year. The dreaded office holiday party. Since you are a savage in the gym, you don’t want go off the deep end and destroy games. But it is also a time that co workers will try to derail you because you are that guy or girl.
You’ve heard it before, live a little. The holidays are just once a year. Blah blab blah. But being the savage, you are you can fend it off, but everybody has a breaking point.
Here are some tips to help you navigate without going overboard.
Plan Ahead
Eat a light protein centered meal prior to going. Never go in hungry. Hunger can turn to hanger quick and then it is on. You will eat everything in sight.
If this is a potluck situation. You can bring a healthy dish to share, ensuring that you have something that fits your goals! You can search the PA blog for some great recipes from Sam and Rachel.
Mindful Munching
There will be temptations, that is a fact. Give yourself permission to sample but practice moderation. Savor each bite, and take small amounts. Chew each bite completely and notice the smell, flavors, and textures.
Stay Hydrated
Drink plenty of water. Staying hydrated helps control hunger, aids digestion and helps keep you the alcohol consumption down.
Prioritize Protein
Opt for the proteins. They will keep you feeling full and satisfied. Lean proteins like chicken, turkey, or lean meats are excellent choices.
Strategize Snacking
Be intentional at the food tables. Choose nutrient dense snacks like vegetables, fruit, or nuts. They help satisfy the crunchy, salty, and sweet cravings while providing actual nutrition.
Hit the Gym
Incorporate gym time around the festivities. Grab a pre-party workout. Take a walk after the party. Make sure not to have so much holiday cheer, that you can hit the gym the next day as well. Banging weights is a great way to counterbalance your sweet indulgences.
Arm yourself with these tips to enjoy your parties without the excessive cheer around the waist. Plan ahead, be mindful, stay active and make strategic choices. Happy party going.
