Episode165AFighting for common Sense

Every episode of Power Athlete Radio seems better than the last and this week’s is no exception. This little gem was recorded some months back with our very own pro fighter and nutrition expert, Tyler Minton [@TheMeleeWay]. It’s dense with strength and conditioning knowledge and some serious one liners to take straight to your athletes. Tyler also talks about his sobering trip to Afghanistan and how interacting with the soldiers changed his life.

Tex and Tyler do the majority of the nerding out, playing off of each other’s incredible knowledge of sport. It’s evident from listening to Tyler that combatives and the sport of fighting is a whole other animal. What unique challenges do these competitors face aside from the obvious of getting hit in the face? The answers lie in a risky little practice called overtraining.

Even if fighting is not your bag, the same concepts of prepping for a competition apply. This episode takes a look at what the key elements leading up to game day are…and how to conquer the balancing act of programming and nutrition.
