Author / John

50 minute listen

In this episode the Crew dials the voicemail to answer a question from a loyal Power Athlete Radio listener:

Power Athlete Radio, you guys are super rad! Where else can I hear a podcast about welding old trucks and cool stuff like lifting weights and philosophy about how to live your life. I neeeeed to know your thoughts about the movie, Vision Quest (1985). Love your faces, you guys rock!

Find Your Place in The Circle

Plastic sweat suits, peg boards, and Steve Perry training tunes. John is all in on the 1985 wrestling classic, Vision Quest, and attributes his 10 year NFL career to Matthew Modine’s iconic performance.

In this podcast, The Crew shares their sports cinema viewing experience of a mediocre high school wrestler on the unhealthiest, both mentally and physically, weight loss kick to wrestle the infamous Shute. The only thing more unhealthy than his diet and dehydration routine is the movie’s love story plotline. Will the wrestler throw away his 20 pound weight loss goal to get the nomad older girl randomly staying in his home, or will all the Journey montages along his journey keep his head in the game?!

Listen in as The Crew aims to find their place in the circle exploring what Vision Quest, a coming of age tale, means for every athlete who sets a goal only to realize the journey was, in fact, the destination.
