The casual fan has absolutely no idea.
Meet James Krause. Professional MMA fighter, father, businessman, family man, and humble stud. His humility makes him a natural inspiration to the many amateur fighters hoping to scratch the surface of one of the fastest growing and competitive sports on the scene. We had the pleasure of speaking with him about balancing training, life, and everything in between.
A Kansas City native, James has stayed close to his roots and developed a thriving gym that caters to the fight community. When he's not traveling, he's passing on his skills and knowledge to the up and coming competition. James is a blunt guy with strong opinions about how the fans perceive the sport...for good or for worse. As he put's it, the casual fan has absolutely no idea what it's like to fight - let alone for 15 minutes. No "fight gone bad" or "fight gone worse" workout can even compare to getting kicked in the face, cornered against the cage, or giving everything you possible can in a good old fashioned one-on-one fist fight.
This insight into the physical and mental demands of fighting will leave you one: feeling like a pussy for ever complaining about an injury, and two: with a new found respect for athletes whose paychecks are dependent on the almighty win, not a bullshit salary or hourly wage.
