THE GREAT STRENGTH DEBATE
Not all athletes are created equal, particularly when it comes to the sport of fitness. This week, we dive into a conversation about CrossFit with renowned games coach, Ben Bergeron. His experience working with competitors at the highest level provides an insight into programming and prepping these select few for one miserable weekend in August. He also acknowledges the differences both in mindset and training goals between these go-hards and your average weekend warrior. The biggest distinction: risk vs. reward.
A reoccurring theme in this episode is the role strength plays in developing an athlete’s all around capacity. The Crew and Ben trade theories on how and what it means to be “strong enough”. And poor Tex talks about a nightmare he had in which all teenagers quit high school to focus on getting better at thrusters. It’s ok Tex. You just had a bad dream…

And, ahoy hoy, have you heard the news? The Power Athlete Symposium is releasing a second wave of tickets for a limited time. These tickets grant you access to all of our sick speakers including Raph Ruiz, Derek Woodske, Bert Sorin, Andy Stumpf, and many many more. You can purchase yours by heading to powerathletehq.com/symposium. Remember that all proceeds go to Wade’s Army, our charity supporting the families affected by a rare form of pediatric cancer called Neuroblastoma. And listen folks, if you can’t get down for the Symposium this year, I’m not mad, I’m just disappointed. However, you can still donate to the cause by going to wadesarmy.org. If you’re familiar with the annual Wade’s Day campaign, we are doing things a little different this year. No need to get a team involved, we’ll take your cold hard cash straight from you as an individual. Just donate as much or as little as your want and decide whether or not you’d like to rock the new Wade’s Army uniform. It will be sent to you prior to November 12 for the Wade’s Day Workout.
