PA Radio – Episode 120: Matt Wichlinski

 MATT2-PowerAthlete Radio_Template-NEW-Recovered-Recovered

Driven to Succeed.

This week we are so pumped to share our chat with Matt Wichlinski.  He is the head strength and conditioning coach at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.  As you'll hear, Matt is responsible for making the mediocre athletes stronger and keeping the strongest, most prized wrestlers safe.  In a sport where theatrical performance often trumps athletic performance, Coach Wichlinski strikes the appropriate balance to ensure the success of these men and women.

It's not difficult to get Matt heated on any number of subjects.  This verbose character is reminiscant of past guests such as Zach Even Esh.  He explains to the crew what it's like to work with the personalities of the WWE and how like any client-coach relationship, some are better than others.  Ultimately, it's the ones with the strongest work ethic whose success trickles into all facets of life.

Matt is a huge proponent for simple training.  He believes that to become a better athlete you must be consistent in order to perfect the basics of strength training.  This ethos echos into his approach to sports specific programming in that the program must prioritize competition over training. As you'll hear, his struggles with the WWE are no different than what we see in traditional HS or College weightrooms.

I'm so excited to bring you this really invigorating chat with the one and only Matt Wichlinski.
