Dr Pat is Leaving a Legacy
This week’s guest, Pat Ivey [@DrCoach_PatIvey] has been around the collegiate block. Furthermore, his career in pro football has provided him with the ultimate experience to guide young athletes through their own sport journey. He and John trade stories about learning from former coaches, teammates, and what they WISH they knew at the start of their time in the NFL. Now Dr Pat is mentoring through his role at the University of Louisville. As the Athletic Associate Director for Health and Performance, Ivey gets to combine his love of teaching students how to get their mind both on and off the field. Because as he explains, there is life beyond the scoreboard.
Dr Pat Ivey takes a keen interest in the mental toughness of his athletes. Through delving into his own education and research, he’s learned the proper approach to building the confidence of his college age competitors. His extensive background in football at the professional level has also served him well. When playing amongst the biggest bodies in the game, you can’t afford to have anything less than a comparable sized ego. Hear how he takes this theory and balances it with humility for life lessons that extend far beyond the gridiron. And per Luke’s demands, I leave in the guys pointless banter about Tone Loc lyrics at the beginning of the show. All complaints can be sent to humanresources@powerathletehq.com. Listen NOW!
