Nutrition & Recovery | Podcast Ep 423 – Wearables, Counting Calories, and Leaning Out
Author / Cali Hinzman
58 Min Listen
In this episode the Crew dials the voicemail to answer a question from a loyal Power Athlete Radio listener:
Hey Crew, I have a question about what am I really doing? I got a fancy watch here that lets me know how many calories I burn. I just want to know is that the amount of calories I should be eating? I feel when I do that I put on too much fluff.
Accepting Yourself Burns The Most Calories

The intent of wearables tracking calories burned is to assist you in taking an objective approach to weight loss. But what is the true impact if the tech is overestimating these calories burned by over 20%? Better think twice before indulging in some delicious Triscuit crackers you believe you “earned”.
John, Luke, and Tex are joined by the Power Athlete Nutrition Coaches to chat calories, macros, and how to properly use wearables for creating habits that lead to weight loss (or weight gain if you’re into that sort of thing). Changes in body composition take time, so use these tools to align your actions now for the body you want later.
