PA Radio – Episode 145: Dr. Tom Incledon

 TOMpromo2No pain, no pain.

This week we bring back our dear friend and colleague, Dr Tom Incledon of Human Performance Specialists.  As is the style of our resident mad scientist, Tom brings us the latest findings of his research involving a phenomena called the neuromatrix.  Essentially, the brain and gut are connected my chemical reactions and nervous system impulses.  While we've spent plenty of time discussing the relationship between the two with past guests, Tom brings forth a new take on the body's ability to communicate signs and symptoms.

If you live with pain, it may be far more complicated than acute or chronic injury.  According to the neuromatrix, many other factors may be contributing to the feeling or sensation of pain - particularly as it pertains to training.  Physiologically, we experience pain like any other naturally occurring sense, but just as those senses are subject to heightening or lessening, so too is our individual pain response.

So much fascinating discussion coming your way.

Do as the doc says and google neuromatrix and pain.  The information that pops up will amaze you.
